Q | What is DHA? |
A | DHA is a naturally occurring sugar, found in (e.g.) Walnuts and Rape Seed plants. It is used as a sweetener in many products and its tanning ability was first discovered when a nurse spilt sweet cough syrup on a child’s face, which then stained the skin! |

Q | How long does it last? |
A | Commonly 5 – 7 days. Lasting time for any tan is very much down to how you maintain it, your skin type as well as the type of spray used. Because Naturasun only affects the top layer of skin, the tan cannot always outlast the natural exfoliation process. The duration of the tan can be extended by giving two applications over a 48 hour period. In this case, you should ensure that at least 24 hours have lapsed between the 1st and 2nd application and that you have taken a shower between the two. Please see the maintenance tips on this website for some tips and advice. |

Q | Is it safe? |
A | Yes, the Cosmetic Institute of Germany stated in its 2000 report that DHA is safe. (Bericht über die 61. Sitzung der Kommission/Expertengruppe für kosmetische Mittel des Bundesinstituts für gesundheitlichen Verbraucherschutz und Veterinärmedizin (BgVV) am 30. November 2000 in Berlin) We have also had our sprays expert-tested within Germany (which has the strictest laws governing cosmetics in Europe) and some of our sprays are FDA approved. |

Q | Can it cause an allergic reaction? |
A | Some people may have an allergy to DHA, and therefore to all sunless tanning solutions. This allergy is rare and can be spotted by doing a patch test 24 hours before treatment. We are developing a spray (Just E) that can tan someone with this allergy, though we always recommend a patch test if unsure. |

Q | How can I book an appointment with a Naturasun salon? |
A | Call us on 0870 240 7072 and we will advise you of your nearest salon and provide you with contact details for booking your appointment. |
| | |
Q | What do I do before my Naturasun application? |
A | Please see the Info for Customers section of this website for full details. |
| | |
Q | Does it smell? |
A | All fake tans have a distinctive odour. We at Naturasun have worked hard to keep this smell to a minimum. Combined with the powerful extraction of the booth, you will not find the smell disagreeable. The smell also doesn’t linger long on the skin. |
| | |
Q | What if I have sensitive skin? |
A | People with sensitive skin need not despair! All of our sprays keep the DHA levels to a minimum and we even have a spray specially developed for those sensitive to DHA – Just E. |
| | |
Q | What if I have dry skin? |
A | We recommend that all Naturasun users moisturise their skin as much as possible as this will benefit your tan. For those with especially dry skin can opt for Bromo+. This spray contains rich moisturisers and is used in conjunction with another spray to give those with dry skin an even, gorgeous tan! |
| |
Q | Why is there 10 sprays? How do I know which one to use? |
A | No two people are the same, so why should everyone use the same tone of spray? All effective sunless tanners contain a certain level of Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and other ingredients which make them more suitable for certain types of skin. The concentration of DHA present in a spray tanning solution ultimately affects the intensity of the colour, meaning that one colour of tan does not suit all. People with lighter skins should opt for a lower DHA concentration, a Naturasun Regular Bronze for example, whilst those with darker skins should go for a Chocolate or D&E tan. There are full descriptions of each tan in our Product Guide. |
| |
Q | What if I am pregnant? |
A | We don’t recommend that pregnant women, or those breast feeding, use Naturasun. There is nothing dangerous in our sprays but they do contain a small amount of alcohol to aid the drying process. Some women also become sensitive to some products when pregnant so this advice is a general precaution. |
| |
Q | Can I still get a spray if I have very pale skin? (i.e. red heads etc) |
A | Of course! We cater for all skin types! Just choose a spray with low DHA, Regular Bronze or Beach Bronze are the best for pale skins. |
| |
Q | I’m getting married – will it rub off on my dress? |
A | No. Make sure you get your gorgeous all-over tan at least one day before your wedding. Wash off the colour guide 12 hours later, then on the day or your wedding, get sprayed with our Wedding Spray. This is a clear spray containing a glitter. Due to there being no colour guide in the spray, it will not rub off on your dress. |
